Resources for the daily lesson plans

DAY 1

Art activity (SGA)
Autumn leaf people.
Let the children walk outside and collect as many different autumn leaves as they can. If you don't have leaves around the school print out different types of leaves. Have the children paste down their autumn leaves onto a sheet of paper to make a face or a person. They could paint the paper first, using an autumn colour.

DAY 1

Life skills teacher-guided activity (WCA)
Autumn yoga.
Play the Autumn Yoga video for a few minutes to allow the children a chance to move around to some music and then practise holding a pose. There is a link on this page.

DAY 2

Art activity (SGA)
Autumn leaf spray painting.
Mix up different coloured water paints in small spray bottles (the type you can get at a plastic shop) using the primary and secondary colours. The children place leaves down on a white piece of paper and secure them with Prestik. Spray the paint over the paper.  Leave the paper lying flat. Once the paint is dry remove the leaves and a leaf print will be left behind.

DAY 2

Free play indoors (SGA)
Trace the letter.
Laminate the letters ‘N’ and ‘n’ on a piece of paper (or download the PDF of a letter ‘n, N’ mat from this page). The children first place bottle tops over the letters, then roll playdough and place that over the letter. Then trace using whiteboard markers, then place string to form the letters.

DAY 3

Art activity (SGA)
N is for night.
Make letter ‘n’ stencils using the PDF on the CAPS Autumn Home Page. The children draw around the stencil onto black paper and cut it out. Give each child a sheet of purple paper or have them paint the paper purple. Paste the ‘n’ down. Decorate with star stickers and cut out a cloud and moon from white paper. Alternatively, you can use the stencils provided with the letter ‘n.’

DAY 4

Art activity (SGA)
Adorable squirrel.

Make some stencils using the PDF on the website. The children draw around the stencil onto thin card and cut it out. Give each child a toilet roll tube and squash down one end so that it closes and forms ears. Glue the toilet roll onto the base, cut two arms from the thin card and paint everything brown. While the paint is drying, give each child a squirrel face from the PDF to cut out and colour in. Paste the face onto the front, paste the arms onto the sides and add googly eyes. As a finishing touch give the squirrel an acorn or nut to hold. Adorable!

Laminate different leaf pictures and punch holes around the edges. Let the children thread in and out around the picture. There are leaf pictures to print in the PDF on this page.

DAY 5

Art activity (SGA)
Tear and paste autumn tree.
Each child paints a piece of card shades of blue. Next give each child a sheet of newspaper which they tear into big strips and paint in the autumn colours. Crumple up some brown paper and tear it into strips and paste it down to make a tree. Tear up the painted paper to make leaves and paste them down too.

Let's count.
Make a counting self-correcting game using the PDF on this page. Print the pictures and paste them down onto card. Cut each card along the centre line. The children must match the number of dots to the number of leaves.
